The Water Street Mile is an one-mile "all comers" race that benefits the participants and programs at the L.E. Phillips Senior Center.  The starting line is just west of First Avenue and Water Street.  Runners will head west on Water Street for one mile ending at Mac’s Seat Covers.  Check-In/Day of Race Registration will be on the Menomonie Street Dental grounds, 1020 Menomonie Street, from 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM.

Dove Healthcare originated this successful event in 2000. “The Water Street Mile” has 13 age categories of participants, male and female, ranging from “six and under” to “90-plus.”  All proceeds go to support basic operations of the senior center, which has continued to grow dramatically in membership in recent years.

New Community Education Program To Help Participants Prepare and Plan Ahead      
EAU CLAIRE - The new, community education program "Bridging the Gap from Hospital to Home" will be held monthly at one of three Transitions Rehabilitation locations (Dove Healthcare - South & West and Wissota Health and Regional Vent Center). The first class is scheduled for Thursday, July 29^th from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Dove Healthcare - South, 3656 Mall Drive. The free program with lunch is intended to help individuals and their family members plan ahead and prepare themselves for what to expect during an in-patient, short-term rehabilitation stay.  Objectives also include explaining the role of therapy, nursing, nutritional and social services and providing an overview of Medicare/Medicaid benefits. Grand Opening of the Fireside Bistro at Dove Healthcare - South    
EAU CLAIRE -  The Fireside Bistro at Dove Healthcare - South on Hwy 93 will open February 1, 2010, with grand opening specials all week. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 1:30 PM and take out is available. Customers will enjoy muffins and rolls for breakfast; sandwiches, wraps, Panini's, soup and salad for lunch; and a variety of specialty coffees. While the Fireside Bistro provides convenience for Dove Healthcare-South employees and other visitors, the licensed restaurant is also open to the public. Dove Healthcare - South provides private accommodations for individuals who need in-patient skilled nursing and rehabilitation services due to an illness, injury or deteriorating condition. Announcing Transitions Aquatic Therapy
With the opening of Dove Healthcare - South on Highway 93 in September 2009, Transitions Rehabilitation will offer aquatic therapy for in- and out-patient needs. The first of its kind in Wisconsin, the warm water pool features a height-adjustable floor that functions as an underwater treadmill.
